BHF required a dedicated website to support the National Defibrillator Network. This life saving project will help people to easily locate their nearest defibrillator and also register one. Currently there are thousands of defibrillators across the UK which are unknown to the ambulance services and with the aid of the website the vast majority will be made known via registration. My main objective was to provide an easy to use interface and also support a variety of different users.
The key factor was balancing key user goals with the business objectives. Customer mapping helped to show how we could help customers at different stages and touchpoints through their journey. It was also important to highlight how businesses would support customers during various touchpoints especially in terms of customer service and overall support.
Over 40 pages were designed for both mobile and desktop. An online style guide with detailed components was created. The components can be used to create coherent and flexible systems. Each component is defined by required events such as title, text, icon or picture. We can reuse components rather than reinventing the wheel by thinking of new solutions to problems we have already solved.
